On Friday the year 6s went across to West Grantham Secondary for a Humanities morning. They took part in Geography, where they looked at Ordnance Survey maps of the local area and identified symbols.

In History, they discussed ancient civilisations and why history is important. The children then created an information sheet about the Aztecs and Mayans.

The final (and most popular!) activity was making pizza swirls in DT. The children combined flour and butter before adding eggs to create the dough. They then rolled this out, added a thin layer of pizza sauce and cut their 'rolled' dough into pieces, which were then baked in the oven. Most of the pizza swirls never made it out of the secondary school, nevermind making it home!

We had a great morning and the children were a real credit to the school - the lady teaching the cooking said that she had never heard such fantastic manners from a group of children!

Well done year 6 - you were amazing today!

This term has seen the return of 'Chess Club' during our enrichment afternoons on Tuesdays. We have a real range of absolute beginners to young 'Grand Masters'! The addition of the giant chess set, from Grantham Chess Club, has been an incredible addition to the sessions!

Both staff and children took part in a special ceremony this morning to remember those who fought and died for their country during wartime. The special assembly was timed to coincide with the two minutes silence marked across the world on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Children were invited to wear their scouts, cubs, beavers and squirrels uniforms and they were also joined by Mrs Walledge, who was a serving member of the Army, who also wore her medals during the day.

Many children had made poppies and poppy wreaths to decorate an arch in foyer of the school, and thank you for your kind donation to the Royal British Legion by purchasing various poppy items such as wristbands.
